Sharing Christmas at BRC

The Blue Ridge Mountain Dulcimer Players welcomed Christmas once again with the season’s most popularly sung tune—JINGLE BELLS, as evidenced by members of the Bridgewater Retirement community.

HEARTSTRINGS Group from Woodstock (above) directed our attention more inwardly with WHAT CHILD IS THIS and THE HOLLY BEARS THE BERRY.

The DULCI-CATS of Charlottesville (above) invited the audience to sing-a-long as they played THE HOLLY AND THE IVY and I HEARD THE BELLS ON CHRISTMAS DAY.

The RIVER CITY STRUMMERS of Waynesboro/Staunton played In the Bleak Mid Winter and Angels We Have Heard on High, then treated all of us to the inspiring tune THE GIFT, sung by Patricia Cash with auto-harp, accordion, ukulele, and dulcimer accompanied.

The JOYFUL NOISE of Bridgewater/H’burg led us in singing THE FRIENDLY BEASTS, then challenged us to remember TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS. We were shocked that at the current rate twelve days of these gifts would run over $200,000!

The DULCIMORES OF THE BLUE RIDGE gave us a multi-part rendition of O COME O COME EMMANUEL/LET ALL MORTAL FLESH KEEP SILENCE/GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN, followed by the sing-a-long round of HEY, HO, NOBODY HOME!

The Club closed out the year with the wish and multi-part tune GO IN PEACE. See you next year. Stay tuned.
