Jeff Furman – September 13, 2025
We welcomed the opportunity to have Jeff Furman of Chapel Hill, NC for a workshop and concert weekend September 12 and 13, 2025. Jeff’s Friday morning workshop included some essential right hand techniques, the practice of which can form the basis of good playing. In the second workshop, some left hand techniques were introduced and we tried these out using several new pieces introduced by Jeff.

Jeff’s Saturday workshop was tagged as a session for LISTENING, HEARING, FEELING, UNDERSTANDING. After individuals and small groups played for us all, Jeff led us in discussions of what we heard, felt, noticed, and what might have been a nice addition or variation.

Tull Glazener- September 21, 2019
What a wonderful day – three multi-part workshops with Tull, ending with the class playing “Go in Peace” as the prelude to Tull’s evening concert. As always with our instructor concerts, it was a real treat! Thanks, Tull!
“Sum of the Parts” – there’s something magic that happens when a like-minded group of musicians gets together to play. The “whole” truly is greater than the sum of its parts! We spent the day working on the skills and techniques needed to “play well with others” as we worked through a number of multi-part ensemble arrangements. We were thrilled to “open” Tull’s concert Saturday evening with his multipart arrangement of “Go Now In Peace”.

Joe Collins – August 3 & 4, 2018
Joe offered an advanced players workshop on Friday, the first time we had planned an advanced workshop. It was well attended and much appreciated. We met at the Fellowship Hall at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church in Fishersville. Three workshops on Saturday were all fun, and topped off with a terrific concert Saturday evening in the Fellowship Hall. For the first time, also, we offered 3 workshops for Beginners with NO EXPERIENCE, taught by Dinah Ansley. We were glad to have several new members join us for these workshops.
Dave Haas – Saturday, May 19, 2018

Bill Collins – October 7, 2017
Bill developed a special 3-part workshop for us that built on playing “dulcet”, ultimately involving all skill-levels of playing, and incorporating a reel, rounds, duets, melodies, chords, counter-harmonies, and more. The sweet sounds of the dulcimer will continue long after Bill’s departure, as we incorporate what we learned from his lessons! Bill, MANY THANKS for the jig you wrote for our club – we love it! Larry Conger –November 19, 2016
We had a great day of learning with Larry in three workshops, and enjoyed an evening concert of old favorites, songs from the 60s, some Tennessee tunes, and Christmas Carols.
