January 19, 2019

(weather was very “iffy,” with forecast somewhere between rain and wintry mix, heavy fog on Afton Mtn.)
“Seasoned jam” attendance: Scott Berg, Shannon Tate, Carol Ralston, Debbie Campbell, Tom Scanlan, Jan Scanlan, Lori Lineweaver, Patsy Kislek, Nancy Tracy – NINE  in attendance. New (or relatively new) tunes included: Barlow Knife, Chinese Breakdown, John Sintson’s #2, Ragtime Annie, Squirrel Heads and Gravy, and Sugar Hill, and maybe a couple more.
(comments I heard – “played tunes we had never played before,” “was fun”, informal,” “everyone had a chance to begin a tune”  “when someone didn’t know how to bring in the count, we spent a few minutes working on that.”)

“Learning jam” attendance: Anne (Cooper-Chen) new member, Shirley Webster, Dave Lineweaver, Dinah Ansley – FOUR in attendance.
(Comments I heard – “I feel so vulnerable, glad we can be in here.” “really needed to get back to music,” “my fingers are remembering what to do.”  My observation: new players were able to be comfort with one another, laugh together, and make comments back and forth to each other, forming a sense of camaraderie.  They all learned to play two tunes: Old Molly Hare and Old Joe Clark.  I meant to have this group join the smaller group, but lost track of time.  Will do better about that next time:~)
