Jam Playlist

Beginning in January 2018, we have adopted Dave Haas’ Join the Jam book for our jams.  We have had fun exploring old favorites, many of which have been on our list from past years, and also finding some new favorites from Join the Jam!

Let’s Jam! Book with 2 CDs! contains 113 Jam Tunes in 142 Arrangements

29 Tunes are in two different keys, and lyrics  and chords.

Novice-Advanced

This book was intended to provide a large collection of of the tunes played in today’s jam sessions.  Great as a help during a jam or as a resource to learn jam tunes, this book is quickly being adopted by many clubs as their official “Jam Book”.

Twenty-nine of the tunes are traditionally played in G or A.  Many of these have be adapted by dulcimer players in the key of D.  In these cases, a second arrangement in either G or A will be included, in addition to an arrangement in D.   This will allow dulcimer player to be more comfortable playing with fiddles, banjos, and other old-time instruments.

Here are some of the new tunes from Join the Jam we tried in January of 2018:

p. 12-13 Ash Grove
p. 14-15 Ashokan Farewell
p. 17  Barlow Knife
p. 32  Bonaparte’s Retreat
p. 35  Buffalo Gals
p. 51  Cripple Creek
p. 66-67 Fiddler Played His Last Waltz
p. 75   The Girl I Left Behind Me
p. 103 Mes Parents
p. 104 Midnight on the Water
p. 122 Red River Valley

Note:  The  Playlist below was created by the selection of 25 songs chosen each year in 2013, 2014, and 2015.  Prior to the creation of the Playlists, Stephen Seifert’s “Join the Jam” book was used. Currently, the 77 songs on the Playlist continue to be used, with the Songs of the Month tabs.  If members would like to introduce any new songs to jam sessions, please contact the jam leader in advance, and bring  (non-copyrighted) TAB for the entire group or arrange to have the link sent to all club members.
