ATWATER-DONNELLY BREAKING UP CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The Concert will not be taking place onSaturday, January 6, 6:30 p.m.
Atwater and Donnelly are unable to travel from Rhode Island due to the Winter Storm Grayson white-out condtions on their area today.
The award-winning husband-wife duo Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly will return to Bridgewater to offer a unique Breaking Up Christmas Concert. In Southern Appalachian tradition, the Twelve Days of Christmas end on January 6, in an evening of music and celebration. The tune “Breaking Up Christmas” will be shared, as well as traditional American and Celtic folk music and dance, and original songs and poetry. Their concert was enthusiastically received when they performed in September 2014, and we’re delighted they are coming back on the traditional “Breaking-Up Christmas” date.
The highly praised husband-wife duo blends gorgeous and unusual harmonies and play guitar, Appalachian mountain dulcimer, mandolin, tin whistle, harmonica, banjo, bones, spoons, limberjacks, and other surprises including Appalachian clog dancing, French Canadian footwork, and Tap. Their performance of a capella pieces, old-time gospel songs, dance tunes, and original works is appealing to all ages, and with humor, audience participation, and a relaxed stage presence, Aubrey and Elwood explain song origins to create a deeper understanding of the music and its cultural history.
Our whole Village is invited to celebrate the Twelfth Day of Christmas by coming to Mack A for their 6:30 p.m. performance. Doors open at 6:00. Free will donations will be accepted.
